One day in May, I was watching the birds when to my surprise about five Western Tanagers flew in the yard to feed on the suet. I ran for my camera to capture this strikingly handsome male against the robin’s egg sky and vibrant spring leaves on my honey locust tree. What a joy to spend 20 days with them before they flew to the high country!
