The Moon Serenades the Sangres

From my west windows, I am blessed to see the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range and this particular morning in April, I was hoping to finally catch the Moon setting above one of my favorite peaks, Mt Gibbs. When I opened my eyes that morning, I could see it dangling above the mountain, so I grabbed my camera and 400mm zoom lens and ran outside to take the picture. The light was filtering through some high clouds, but the sky above the mountain was clear and that just beckoned me to convert it to a black and white. I love the drama of a very rich black sky in contrast to the bright Moon and snowy ridgeline of Mt Gibbs. as the Moon started to sink nearer the ridgeline, I saw the face of the Moon and it reminded me of someone singing a love song to the mountains.
