Wondrous Comet at Beckwith Ranch
Comet Neowise was about to make its appearance in the evening sky on July 13, 2020 and I was hopeful that the monsoon clouds would not spoil the show. I decided to go to Beckwith Ranch because the iconic barns were in the perfect spot. Sunset was gorgeous with storm clouds and rainbows, but the northwest was full of clouds and my chances of seeing the comet were looking pretty slim. I was about to pack up the car, when I noticed a break in the clouds, so I got out my binoculars to see if I could spot the comet between the clouds. I scanned the sky and then I saw it! I grabbed my camera and ran towards the barns just as the clouds parted enough for the comet to be seen fully. I was able to get 2 photos before it disappeared behind the clouds again. It was a fleeting and wondrous moment to see the comet sailing past the Beckwith Ranch!
