The Meeting Of Mars and the Moon

On July 27th, 2018, the Moon was full and Mars was making its closest approach to earth in 15 years. On that night Mars was the brightest we’ve seen it since 2003 and it did not disappoint. I watched the conjunction of the glowing red planet and the bright full Moon over that entire weekend while I stood among the red stone creatures in Goblin Valley State Park. Taking in this rare sight was my inspiration for this ink drawing.
